Jin Shin Jyutsu

About the practice

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese art that uses our hands and simple procedures to balance and harmonise the body's vital energy, creating a profound sense of well-being.

It means "The Art of the Creator through the Person of Knowledge and Compassion".

Practising Jin Shin Jyutsu invites us to self-care, helps us to recognise the innate wisdom of our body and to expand our awareness. The real lesson in life is to discover who I am, to get to know myself, and Jin Shin Jyutsu is an art of knowing oneself, of helping yourself.

"The planets, the signs, the seasons, the organs, the attitudes, the numbers... Everything is related to each other and Jin Shin Jyutsu helps us to understand these relationships and how we can help ourselves to experience a happier and healthier life."

My story with JSJ began the day my husband was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and a good friend (who is now 82 years old and more vital than many 50-year-olds) said to me: 'Virginia, this book can help your husband'. From the first minute, I was very attracted to this physio-philosophy and especially to the way in which a specific JSJ instructor, Wayne Hackett, explained and spoke about this art. I was amazed at how without having much knowledge yet of what I was doing, just by practicing the exercises detailed in 'The Healing Touch' book on a daily basis I noticed the positive results in myself. I became fascinated by the improvement and wanted to know more! So when Wayne Hackett came from Hawaii to Munich to teach a JSJ course I didn't hesitate and attended. On the third day, there was a sort of raffle and I got a session taught by Wayne, where he would explain JSJ concepts to the whole class. And that's all it took for me to realize that this art is what I had always been looking for. I can't put into words how good and happy I felt when I got up from that stretcher. If I put words to define it I'd be limiting its depth or meaning. Thus, I wanted to know more and learn how to help other people the same way Wayne Hackett helped me. Jin Shin Jyutsu became my purpose. It was a few days after that that I left my job as an analyst at a bank in Edinburgh. Since then I have devoted myself to studying, practicing, teaching, and spreading this wonderful art! Oh, and to everyone's surprise, during that time my husband's illness had already healed and today he is even better than before!
